Bipolar Disorder:Hypomania - symptoms continued
We left off where the article started talking about Hypomania:
Hypomania may feel good to the person who experiences it and may even be associated with good functioning and enhanced productivity. Thus even when family and friends learn to recognize the mood swings as possible bipolar disorder, the person may deny that anything is wrong. Without proper treatment, however, hypomania can become severe mania in some people or can switch into depression. NIMH
Enhanced functioning and increased productivity…yes it is the point when everything in the house is immaculate and I get about 5 projects going at a time. I may or may not get all my extra projects finished before I get back to a depressive state.
It’s frustrating because that is the point when I am most artistic. I create so many beautiful things be it artwork, beadwork, dreamcatchers, digital art, webpages, graphics… and then all of a sudden it just flutters away. It is a state of myself that I have known since the 6th grade. One time I remember drawing a deer that looked like it could leap off the page, the next week I tried to draw another animal and all that creative flow was gone. It was a poor caricature at best. Then there are the mixed states:
In some people, however, symptoms of mania and depression may occur together in what is called a mixed bipolar state. Symptoms of a mixed state often include agitation, trouble sleeping, significant change in appetite, psychosis, and suicidal thinking. A person may have a very sad, hopeless mood while at the same time feeling extremely energized. NIMH
THOSE times are the worst. It is more of what I have been going through of late with temporary manias thrown in randomly.
It’s also rapid cycling…so rapid sometimes that you can blink and the whole situation has changed, it seems.
I am looking into alternative treatments. One source I have been using is called Remedy Find. I have already started figuring out what works and what doesn’t work. More on that next time.

Take it easy!
Your new dog is ADORABLE! Why is it that the person who actually feeds and takes care of the dog (like I did) is the one who doesn’t get the most love, yet loves the dog the most?
I’m sorry you’re feeling bad…I hope you get better soon….
