A few ways to make your site more relevant and therefore increase traffic and page ranking:

• Advertise with local publishers such as your local newspaper
• Get your URL out to your
  local community with promotional products such as pens and t-shirts.
• Utilize Google AdWords to target
  search engine users that are searching for local products and/or
  services. You can pay for any Keyword you
  think a user might search for on Google to find your products and/or
  services.
• Get your site to the top of the normal list of search engine results. You cannot pay to get that spot.

Things to watch:

• Google Adwords costs a good amount of money and may not be that profitable to you in the long run.
• You have to have relevant website content and more popularity on the Internet compared
  to your competition.
  

There are a number of companies you can use to help you, and you get more bang for your buck. Search Engine Optimization is an essential part of making sure your site gets all the exposure you need.
