Understanding Link Popularity
It’s hard for a person to wrap their head around the algorithms that are used by Google. There are lots of resources out there that try to explain the way things work with Page Ranking and they ways to increase your numbers. Too many things to sift through will leave you confused and feeling helpless. The one think you need to know is that link popularity matters the most.
There are a few ways to get your pages noticed. The main methods that most people explore are press release distribution, purchasing links from link brokers, trading links with other websites (reciprocal linking) and link baiting. Apparently, the most effective is a press release that others can write about, link to, and make a buzz about on their own sites. Reciprocal linking is the least beneficial as the linking system has been damaged by those who link from low ranking sites to other low ranking sites.
